Tips & Tricks

  1. Keep a journal
    • Track how many reps or minutes for each exercise you do each day to hold yourself accountable
    • Easily look back and see where you started and how you have progressed!
  2. Common pushup mistakes
    • Hands too far forward
      • This can cause unwanted stress on other muscles and joints
      • Make sure hands are directly under your shoulders, not too far forward
    • Hips too low
      • Keeping your hips level with your shoulders through the whole movement is vital
      • Use your core to stabilize the body, not putting too much pressure on the lower back
    • Elbows pointed out
      • This can result in shoulder pain
      • Aim to have the elbows angle back toward the waist and the shoulders meeting the hands
