UND Space Studies to Host Ever-popular Public Star-gazing Party

Party with the stars this Friday!

It’s a sight like no other—if the weather is right.

The University of North Dakota Department of Space Studies again will host one of its popular Star Parties starting at dusk Friday, Sept. 18, at the new Space Studies Observatory site near Emerado, N.D.

Sunset Friday in this region occurs at about 7:20 p.m. Central Daylight Saving Time.

Directions to the site, which is located about 23 miles west of Grand Forks, can be found here.

Come join the stellar fun whether you’re an experienced stargazer or a novice—UND Space Studies graduate students and members of the Northern Skies Astronomical Society and the Dakota Space Society will be on hand to help.

Telescopes will be available at the Observatory site, but you’re welcome to bring your own telescopes and/or binoculars.

UND Star Parties are free and open to the public.

Star Parties will occur periodically—weather permitting—throughout the fall 2015 semester and will be announced about a week prior to the event.

For information about weather cancellations, visit the Dakota Space Society Facebook page.
