Deadline Extended: May 18-19, 22-24 Teaching with Writing Workshop: Teaching Writing in Large Classes

The deadline has been extended to Wednesday, May 3, to register for the Teaching with Writing Workshop: Teaching Writing in Large Classes, which is set for Thursday and Friday, May 18-19, and Monday through Wednesday, May 22-24, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

While writing plays a central role in many of our courses, it can be difficult to manage the time and attention necessary to guide successful student writing. This is especially true in online courses and courses with high enrollment. In this five-day summer workshop, faculty will work together, using best practices to produce and revise writing curricula, with special attention paid to ways to efficiently integrate writing into coursework.

In addition to designing graded and ungraded assignments, we’ll also cover a range of activities that help students produce high-quality writing with a particular emphasis on time-saving student collaborations like peer-to-peer revision and student-led workshops.

Finally, we’ll share Writing Across the Curriculum best practices on providing effective feedback to students efficiently and assessing student writing in support of course and departmental learning outcomes.

This workshop is open to all UND faculty, and participants will receive a $750 stipend (subject to standard deductions) and workshop materials.

As this workshop is limited to 12 participants and applications are reviewed as they are received, it is advantageous to apply early. Click here to apply. The application deadline has been extended to Wednesday, May 3.
