Peter Johnson joins UND Alumni Association & Foundation as Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs

Long time University of North Dakota public relations spokesperson Peter Johnson has joined the UND Alumni Association & Foundation as Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs.

A part time employee, Johnson will continue to work directly with UND Vice President for Finance/COO Jed Shivers to provide leadership for the government relations functions of the University. His role will include building and sustaining a mutually beneficial program to engage regional, state, and federal policy makers to maximize support needed to achieve institutional objectives including strategies to advance UND’s mission and One UND Strategic Plan.

Johnson, who retired June 30, 2017, as Interim Vice President for University & Public Affairs and has continued in part time communications capacities since, most recently as UND Chief Liaison Officer. He started June 3 at the UND Alumni Association & Foundation and will continue to work out of Twamley Hall within the office of the Vice President of Finance & Operations.
