General Counsel can assist with legal concerns on Covid-19 related cancellations and issues

If faculty or staff have legal or contractual questions or concerns regarding a cancellation, postponement, or delay or other circumstance arising out of the coronavirus/COVID-19 situation, please contact the Office of General Counsel. We are located in Twamley Hall, Room 116, and can be reached by campus mail at Stop 8196, and by telephone at 7-6345, or individually at the e-mail addresses listed below.

In order to best serve you, please have the following information ready:

  1. Fully signed copy of any contracts/agreements, including all addenda and amendments.
  2. The status of any and all payments.
  3. All correspondence with the party or vendor regarding changes (or requested or suggested changes) in performance due to coronavirus/COVID-19, including any demands or determinations made by the party or vendor, as well as proposed resolutions. If verbal, please summarize in writing.
  4. If applicable, the date or approximate date on which our office reviewed the agreement in question, and the name of the attorney who helped you.
  5. A brief statement describing your preferred outcome (e.g., waiver, refund, or reduction of penalties or fees, cancellation without penalty, rescheduling).

We will be happy to work with you to ensure that the University’s rights and interests are protected, and to minimize disruption to your department or college as events continue to develop. Our recommendations will ultimately need to be discussed with your Vice President and approved by the Provost’s office.
