New Sociology Faculty
We are excited to have a new faculty member in Dr. Katherine Furl joining the department this year!
Dr. Furl (she/her) is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of North Dakota. She completed her PhD in sociology at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where she served as a research affiliate with the Center for Information Technology and Public Life (CITAP). Her research employs qualitative and mixed methods to understand how digital media influence social inequalities linked to race, gender, and class.
Dr. Furl has brought her two cats, Grey Lady and Joe, with her from North Carolina and both are settling in just fine. When she’s not researching and teaching, Dr. Furl enjoys drawing, playing the piano, and spending time in nature.
The Department of Sociology is excited to have Dr. Furl here at UND!
