Sociology Graduate Program Updates
Our online Master’s program is now in its second year! We’ve admitted 10 students so far, with several slated to begin Fall 2026.
Most of our students are employed full-time (several at UND) so they really appreciate that our courses are offered asynchronously and they can choose to take one or two classes a semester. Many of our students are in the Grand Forks area or have connections to the region, but others are located all across the country – from South Carolina to Washington state. Most have taken courses this fall from the department’s newest Assistant Professor, Dr. Furl, who taught Advanced Sociological Theory and a course on Technology and Society. They all seem to be equally excited about Dr. Berg’s Advanced Statistical Methods course and Dr. Minnotte’s Seminar in Sociology on work and family issues this spring.
News of our graduate courses is starting to spread and each semester we have at least a few students from other graduate programs taking our classes. We are always recruiting new applicants, so if you know of anyone who is interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in Sociology at UND, send them to Dr. Legerski, who is currently serving as the graduate program director (701-777-4414 or elizabeth.legerski@und.edu).
