Course Description & Objectives
The goal of this class is to guide graduate students through the research process, from choosing a project to either writing a literature review for their thesis/dissertation or producing a paper for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
After successfully completing this course, you should be able to:
- Understand proper journal article evaluation
- Identify and avoid plagiarism
- Structure a thesis/dissertation or journal article
- Write a literature review
- Professionally deliver oral presentations
- Choose appropriate references
- Mine information from a journal article
- Formulate a hypothesis
- Synthesize conclusions
- Design an experiment
