Participate in UND's Spring Commencement

We look forward to hosting the 2024 Spring Commencement ceremonies at the Alerus Center on Saturday, May 11 where each graduate will be honored for their academic achievements. UND commencement ceremonies are open to graduates and their guests.

Below is important information related to the upcoming ceremonies.

Commencement Ceremonies Details

  • Doctoral & Master's Degrees Ceremony, Saturday, May 11 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Undergraduate Degrees Ceremony, Saturday, May 11 at 2:00 p.m.
  • All graduates are welcome to participate and do not need to register in advance.
• Graduates should arrive 60 minutes before ceremony start time in their academic regalia. Directions, parking, dining, and lodging information can be found here.

Regalia

• Purchase or Rent Regalia: Graduates' cap, gown, tassel, hood, and other commencement-related items can be found at the University Bookstore,775 Hamline St., Grand Forks, 701.407.0448.

• Undergraduate Academic Honors: Undergraduate students graduating with academic honors qualify for a UND honor medallion and will receive it in the line-up room when they check in before commencement. If honor students do not participate in commencement, the honor medallion will be mailed at a later date.

Additional Information
  • Graduates who attend their commencement ceremony will receive a diploma folder when they cross the stage.
  • Graduates can order an individualized video StageClip of the moment they cross the stage and receive their diploma. Please see details below.
  • The Grad Team will take graduate's on-stage photo with the President and a posed photo after crossing the stage. Please see details below.
  • Commencement ceremonies are open to the public and tickets are not required. Ceremonies are general seating and doors open 60 minutes before the doctoral & master's degrees ceremony and 90 minutes before the undergraduate ceremony.   • Guest Seating Info for the Undergraduate ceremony: If your graduate is from one of the following colleges, these sections will offer you the best view:
    Section 201-205 - Aerospace, Engineering & Mines, Business & Public Administration
    Section 214-218 - Nursing & Professional Disciplines, Medicine & Health Sciences, Education & Human Development, Arts & Sciences
