Chester Fritz Library Updates

News and notes from UND's Chester Fritz Library

Renovation Update: 10/24/19

Many unseen things are happening in the library, from the construction of the new elevator shaft to the review and finalization of plans for updated spaces.

You might soon notice the old book drops disappearing from the south and east walls of the building. Don’t forget about the drive-up (and walk-up) book return across the street from CFL!

Three window samples are being installed today, giving decision-makers a chance to determine which of three colors (bronze, silver, or white) works best with the exterior look of the building. The entire building will receive these new, energy-efficient windows during a separate campus project next summer.

The north entrance is scheduled to re-open at the end of this semester, at which time the south entrance will be closed for construction to begin on that side of the building. Landscaping in front of the north entrance (including an updated sign and new walkways) is delayed by the rain and snow we’ve recently had, which has made the soil too damp to continue construction.

And students: don’t forget to submit your ideas about the name for the new coffee shop that will be located on the first floor of the library! Submissions will each be entered for a chance to win a pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones.
