Pride Month in June is a chance to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. Checkout these recommended books for Pride Month 2025!
Some films, even classics, remain solely on DVD or are only fitfully available on Netflix or lesser known services. Fear not! The library has identified several such “unstreamable films” and will be displaying them during the summer.
The Chester Fritz Library will be hosting its last movie night of the semester on April 21 at 7:00 PM. We will be screening A League of Their Own, the 1992 dramedy that fictionalizes a season in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The movie stars Geena Davis as the reluctant star player for the Rockford Peaches and Tom Hanks as the Peaches’ manager. In addition, the Chester Fritz Library will be displaying a variety of sports movies this month.
The Chester Fritz Library will be hosting its next movie night on March 17 at 7:00 PM, a screening of Wicked. Wicked is among several movies the library has added to its collection in the past year. Not only have we acquired blockbusters, we have nabbed special editions of classic films and added works by less well-known filmmakers.
