Michelle Montgomery to give Surgery Grand Rounds talk on physician mental health Jan. 25

Michelle Montgomery, MSW, LCSW, a Wellness Advocate in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Science, will present a talk entitled “It’s Not All in Your Head: Physician Mental Health” from Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Attendance to this wellness lecture is required for surgery residents per GME. All are welcome to attend.

The objectives of the talk are:

  1. Assess the prevalence of suicidal ideation.
  2. Identify the warning signs and predictors of burnout and suicide.
  3. Explain intervention and treatment options.
  4. Discuss pointers on how to have a conversation about suicide.

This Surgery Grand Rounds event, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Department of Surgery, is broadcast via video conference to many sites in North Dakota and Minnesota.

The University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
