“Virtual” Joggin’ with Josh to be held tomorrow!

Each fall since 2010, Joshua Wynne, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., UND vice president for health affairs and dean of the School of Medicine & Health Sciences (SMHS), has invited all UND students, faculty, staff and community members to advocate healthful lifestyles by joining him for Joggin’ with Josh, an informal 5K or 10K walk, jog or run.

In 2020, being mindful of the COVID-19 pandemic, this event will be held virtually on Saturday, Sept. 12. Participants, who will still receive a complimentary T-shirt or tank top, can walk or run at a time and place of their choosing that day—in Grand Forks or otherwise!

“Although COVID means that our annual jog will have a slightly different format—a physically distant one—what hasn’t changed is the benefit that regular exercise provides all of us,” said Dr. Wynne, noting that a record 185 people registered for the event. “From reducing one’s risk of heart disease and diabetes, to controlling weight and improving mental health, exercise can literally add years to a person’s life. So choose your favorite route on Saturday, run or walk a distance that works for you, and stay safe!”

Participants are also encouraged to share their photos before, during and after the event by posting to your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts using the #jogginwjosh hashtag.

All participants who do this will go into a drawing for a Garmin VivoSport wearable device!
