Two Department of Biomedical Sciences graduate students named winners at UND’s annual GRAD day

Two graduate students in the SMHS Department of Biomedical Sciences won awards at UND’s eighth annual Graduate Research Achievement Day (GRAD) event, held in the UND Memorial Union last week.

Darius Quansah, advised by Dr. Jonathan Geiger, won first place in the GRAD event’s Natural Sciences category, and Michael Allen, advised by Dr. Keith Henry, took second place in the same category.

Sponsored by UND’s School of Graduate Studies, the annual celebration of graduate student research is supported by a variety of local and national agencies, including the City of Grand Forks, the Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corporation, UND Center for Innovation, and UND Research & Economic Development.

Well over 400 people took part in event this year, whether as presenters, judges, or volunteers. Interested community members, undergraduate students, and representatives from our prize sponsors likewise attended to see posters/presentations and talk with students about their research.

Congratulations!
