Website edits: Accessibility training through Deque University
The University of North Dakota, in its effort to meet the new Americans with Disabilities Act Title II regulations, is partnering with Deque University to provide an expansive selection of digital accessibility training modules to all UND employees. Deque University, a digital accessibility training platform, offers more than 50 on-demand, self-paced courses that can be taken individually or as part of a learning pathway. These courses provide resources for everything from the fundamentals of web accessibility to formatting individual document types, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and .pdf documents.
Faculty and staff now have access to Deque University’s expansive learning library of on-demand, self-paced digital accessibility training modules. Users will log in through Deque University using their UND email (@und.edu) and password. Detailed login instructions, as well as more general information on Deque University, is available through UND’s Deque University: On-Demand Training. By default, all users will have access to Deque‘s full curriculum. Because these offerings are extensive, UND has a few custom learning pathways that users can be subscribed to upon request and recommends the “Fast Track for Any Role” course as a good starting point for those early in their accessibility journey.
Questions about the regulations, how they apply to specific work, and how Deque University can be used within your department can be directed to Beth Valentine, deputy ADA coordinator, or Donna Smith, ADA coordinator.
And remember: the First period of SMHS access to Equidox (for mitigating accessibility issues in .pdfs, etc.) begins on July 23 for those who edit SMHS web pages. Learn more at the UND website updates blog.
