Amber Christiansen to discuss ADHD and medication at Psychiatry Grand Rounds on July 16

For the next Psychiatry Grand Rounds, to be held from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, Amber L. Christiansen, MS, CCC-SLP, CBIS, ADHD-RSP, will present “More Than Medications: Elevating Care Through Interdisciplinary Collaboration for ADHD.” The event will occur in the UND Southeast Campus Auditorium in Fargo. Christiansen is speech-language pathologist at Progressive Therapy Associates, Fargo, N.D.

Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Recognize common barriers to accurate diagnosis and treatment of ADHD when viewed through the lens of neurodivergence and cognitive-communication disorders and how these barriers may manifest in patients.
  • Identify the elements of a “gold standard” treatment approach for ADHD, according to available research.
  • Discuss the role of speech-language pathology with strategy-based therapy or coaching for optimizing medical and clinical outcomes for individuals with ADHD.

This Grand Rounds presentation, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences and the School’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, is broadcast via video conference to many sites throughout North Dakota and Minnesota and is also streamed via personal computers.
