Instructional design: “AI is here, now what? Getting started (safely)” on Oct. 1

The UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLAS) team invites you to join us for a free virtual faculty development session.

From noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, SMHS Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning, Richard Van Eck, Ph.D., will present “AI is here, now what? Getting started (safely).”

The meeting will take place via Zoom. (If prompted for a passcode, enter UND)
AI is everywhere these days, and when we hear the term we may think “cool,” “scary,” or both. One thing is clear—AI is here to stay and has the potential to transform health care, teaching, and learning, but it comes with inherent risks and challenges. Do you have Microsoft Copilot or another tool on your computer? Do you know if it is secure? Do you know what policies govern the use of AI at UND SMHS? This session will explain the UND SMHS AI Policy, how to know whether the tool you want to use is secure or not, and how to get started with thinking about AI as a tool for teaching and productivity.
This faculty development session is hosted by Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLAS) at the SMHS. Our faculty development sessions showcase topics of interest to the medical and health education community and are free and open to all. Previous sessions can be streamed at any time from our website.
If you have any questions about this topic or would like to discuss future meeting topics, please contact Adrienne Salentiny (adrienne.salentiny@UND.edu) or Richard Van Eck (richard.vaneck@UND.edu).
