TLAS presents ‘Ready, Set, Go? Getting Started with AI’ with Rick Van Eck on Nov. 19
Everyone is welcome to attend the next Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLAS) event “Ready, Set, Go? Getting Started with AI” with Dr. Richard Van Eck, associate dean for teaching and learning, to be held virtually from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
In our October session, attendees learned about the SMHS Use of Artificial Intelligence for Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship policy and what is allowed, safe, and wise to do with AI. We also learned that knowing about AI is not as important as developing your own personal knowledge by using AI yourself.
But how do you actually get started? In this session, you’ll learn how to create high-quality prompts and try your hand at creating your own prompts. You’ll also have the chance to review more than 100 real-world applications of AI to health care education that are underway at medical and health sciences schools across the country, some with more than 3 years of data collected.
Finally, we’ll discuss our own applications of AI: come with problems you wish AI could help you with, even if you don’t know whether it is possible or not. This workshop requires no prior knowledge or experience with AI—we’ll learn together!
