Office of Learning Innovation presents ‘Accessibility in online courses and beyond’ Feb. 25
Join the (new!) Office of Learning Innovation on Feb. 25 for its professional development session: “Accessibility in online courses and beyond.”
The University of North Dakota “Strive for 85” accessibility initiative aims to create a more inclusive and accessible learning environment by ensuring that learning and support materials are accessible to every student. This initiative is in response to a federal ADA mandate with a target date of April 24, 2026. It applies to all materials that instructors provide to students but primarily affects everyone who teaches courses online. Because this is a UND-wide initiative, resources and training related to digital accessibility are being managed primarily through UND’s Teaching, Transformation, and Development Academy (TTaDA).
Presenter panel
- Dr. Mandi Peterson – Senior Research Analyst, Office of Data Analysis and Technical Assistance
- Dr. Sarah Sletten – Director of Learner Research, Department of Biomedical Sciences
- Dr. Adrienne Salentiny – Office of Learning Innovation
- Theodora Amauh, M.A. – Office of Learning Innovation
Join virtually from 11 a.m. to noon (Central) on Feb. 25. If prompted for a passcode, enter “UND.“
This session features SMHS faculty and staff who have successfully found ways to make their complex online content accessible. They will demonstrate how they tackle accessibility issues with various types of files and answer questions about how you can also begin or continue this important work. Further resources will be provided.
If you have any questions about this topic or would like to discuss future meeting topics, please contact Adrienne Salentiny (adrienne.salentiny@UND.edu) or Richard Van Eck (richard.vaneck@UND.edu).
