UND offers DMPTool for data management and sharing plans

If you are applying for a federal grant, you may need a data management and sharing plan that explains how scientific data will be managed, stored, preserved, and shared throughout the course of a research project. The DMPTool is an online platform that helps researchers create these plans using funder-specific templates and institutional guidance. It includes templates for agencies such as the NIH, including the new NIH Simple Form, as well as the NSF and many others.

To get started, create an account using your UND email address and select “University of North Dakota” from the institution dropdown menu.

If you would like to connect your plan to the ORCID, you can link your ORCID account within DMPTool while you are developing the plan. You must set the DMSP status to “organizational.” Open the menu under your name, select “Third-Party Applications,” and choose the option to create or connect your ORCID ID. Once your ORCID account is linked, continue building and saving your plan in DMPTool. When you are ready to finalize the plan, use the registration option to generate a DMP ID, the persistent identifier for that plan. After the plan is registered, the DMP ID is automatically sent to your ORCID record, where it appears as a Data Management Plan on your profile. You can also do the steps above on the last page of the DMP.
