SMHS Library Resources

Updates and information from your health sciences library

Meet Our Staff: Janet Anderson

Name: Janet Anderson

Position: NW Clinical Campus Librarian

Where do you work? In Minot, out of the new Trinity Hospital, which is the only hospital library publicly accessible in the state of North Dakota.

What is your favorite pie or ice cream?

Chocolate ice cream, either soft or hard serve…and I really like the custard from Culvers because it is a combination of both.

How many pets do you have, what kind of pet are they, and what are their names?

Two cats who are a brother and sister and who are named Pip Squeak (an orange fluffy male) and Daisy, a white short hair. Then there is Charlie, the rescue dork (dog).

What are you reading right now?

I always have an audio book and a paper book. The current audio book is Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel and the real book is Night Strangers by Chris Bohjalian.

Tell us about your journey to working in a medical library.

I worked in Public Libraries for fifteen years and discovered that I really missed doing research and lit searches and true reference interviews. When the last librarian was leaving the Minot Campus I was immediately interested. I love how I am constantly learning in this job and don’t think I will ever know everything there is to know in this field.

What do you want everyone to know about Library Resources?

We’re here. We can assist in every step of your journey, from the undergrad preprofessional students looking for articles. We help graduate students, medical students and residents who need help with publishing, lit searches and research. We are here for faculty and staff and we even support those who become health care providers acting as part of the education team for our students as they are preparing for instruction.
