LWW Subscription Updates

SMHS and CNPD Community,

After careful consideration, SMHS Library Resources will be substituting our subscription to LWW Total Access with Neurology with the LWW Physician Assistant and Advanced Practice Nurse Journal Collection (PA/APN Collection), supplemented with à la carte journals that were determined based on user needs and requests (Neurology, Journal of American College of Surgeons, Ear and Hearing, and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery).

This decision was not made lightly but was made in connection to an unexpected and sharp increase to the price of LWW Total Access with Neurology, which was unsustainable for SMHS. Library Resources continues to review collections to determine value for cost and will ensure that our communities in SMHS and CNPD are informed as soon as possible about any changes.

We expect there to be minimal impact on faculty and students, and articles that we do not have subscription access to will continue to be available through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service. We will monitor ILL requests along with other usage data over the next year to determine if additional à la carte journals need to be added to our collection.

Access to the PA/APN Collection will begin on September 30, 2026, and our access to LWW Total Access with Neurology will sunset on the same date.

We retain access to 124 current journals (including the 4 à la carte titles) and are adding one PA/APN Collection-specific title.
