Finals De-Stress Week Events

Being a student is stressful. Working in healthcare is stressful. Test-taking is stressful. All three of those things together could be a recipe for disaster and the staff with SMHS Library Resources and SMHS Student Well Being want to help prevent that disaster!

Mark your calendars for May 4, 5, and 6 as we try to help you de-stress across various campuses. Join us at these locations for the following events where you can take some time to pause and take a breath:

Virtual

Join Michelle Montgomery, Assistant Director of Student Well Being, who will lead a virtual mediation session over Zoom on Monday, May 4 at noon. This is a great way to start the week and get ready for what’s to come. Register ahead for this event if you’d like to receive reminder emails.

Grand Forks

Devon Olson, Research & Education Librarian, Michelle Montgomery, and other Library Resources staff will be hosting therapy dogs and yard games on Monday, May 4, Tuesday, May 5, and Wednesday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to puppy snuggles and fun games, we’ll have the following from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on these days:

  • Monday, May 4: Soda bar (make your own Italian Soda)
  • Tuesday, May 5: Popcorn bar
  • Wednesday, May 6: Chips and guacamole (treats will also be available on the Altru campus student lounge on Wednesday)

Spend some time with us in the SMHS East Atrium on any or all of these days. Plus, you’ll find a space for meditation and relaxation nearby (under the stairs) complete with a hammock for the ultimate relaxation!

Fargo

Join librarian Sara Westall for a soda bar and snacks on Wednesday, May 6 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the student lounge at the Fargo campus.

Minot

The NW Campus Librarian, Janet Anderson, will have K-cup coffee and snacks all week in Minot. Plus, stop by the library to color some coloring pages, play table-top games, or put together a puzzle.

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but UND is dedicated to ensuring our students and staff have resources to help support their health year-round. Check out the following UND resources to learn more about what’s available to you:
