Alum Robert Mitchell to Join NOAA Corps

Robert Mitchell, May 2009 graduate, has been accepted into the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps and will begin training in August. Robert recently graduated with a B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences and a B.S. in Commercial Aviation. He has been involved in atmospheric research and also working as a Flight Instructor over the past 2 years. Based on his double major undergraduate education and experience, Robert has been offered a pilot slot after his commissioning. The NOAA Corps is the smallest uniform service branch in the U.S. and operates a fleet of research ships and aircraft. Acceptance into the Corps is very competitive and a direct-to-pilot slot is unusual.
