Evolution of X-ray Bright Points
X-ray bright points (XBPs) are small (8” – 75”), complex loop-like structures found within the corona of our Sun. First discovered in
1969 during a suborbital rocket flight, our understanding about how XBPs vary in lifetime, distribution, size and flux has increased with the aid of improved observing equipment. Data from Hinode’s X-ray telescope (XRT) and imaging tools such as Solarsoft will be used to determine how XBP lifetime, size, distribution and flux change over the course of a moderately long period of time.
