INVAP from Argentina visiting campus on Aug. 22-23

Fabio Bustos and Julio Cesar Bourdin, engineers at INVAP will be giving a talk about space and nuclear development in Argentina on Monday, August 22nd at noon in the Space Studies Library. They are visiting UND to learn about UND’s research with Unmanned Aerial Systems. Both belong to INVAP, one of the largest technology companies in South America, located in Bariloche, Patagonia, Argentina. They have been producing nuclear reactors, satellites medical technology and radars, among other systems for more than 30 years, and have customers all over the world.

Domestically, INVAP holds a close relationship with the Argentine Commission of Atomic Energy (CNEA) and the Argentine Space Commission (CONAE), institutions with which it has jointly accomplished major projects. Internationally, the company is related to numerous organizations, such as the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO) and the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (AEA).

This past June INVAP, along with NASA, launched the SAC-D Aquarius satellite from Vandenberg AFB in California.  This was a joint US/Argentina scientific satellite to investigate sea water salinity. Website www.invap.com.ar
