Ames Research Center Selects UND Space Suit Prototypes for Research

Pablo de Leon spent the first week of November at Ames Research Center I California. Ames scientists are interested in determining how science can be performed on the surface of the Moon or Mars. For Earth based simulations Ames has chosen to use UND’s NDX-1 and NDX-2 as those prototype space suits realistically simulate a full pressure suit and its constraints. De Leon met with Chris McKay, Carol Stoker and Pascal Lee to discuss the possibility of doing joint research projects using UND’s space suits in Utah, Devon Island and the North Dakota Badlands. While at Ames, de Leon gave a presentation entitled “Human Spaceflight Systems at UND in Support of Future NASA’s Analog Activities.”
