Eric Johnson receives community service award, publishes ADA standards of care manual

johnsonEric Johnson, MD, associate professor in the Department of Family & Community Medicine and director of Interprofessional Education in the Department of Education Resources at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences, has just finished up work as lead editor of the abridged-for-primary-care-providers version of the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) manual Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes—2019. The manual, published this week by the ADA, includes all of ADA’s current clinical practice recommendations and is intended to provide clinicians, patients, researchers, payers, and others with the components of diabetes care, general treatment goals, and tools to evaluate the quality of care.

Such work is why Dr. Johnson was also recently named winner of the South Forks Lions Melvin Jones Award, the highest award for community service the group confers. According to the Lions, Dr. Johnson received the award for his 25 years of diabetes education and advocacy within and beyond the greater Grand Forks community.

Congratulations, Dr. Johnson!
