UND Law Alumnus Jeff Rude, ’89, Appointed Wyoming Insurance Commissioner

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon announced in September 2019, the appointment of UND Law alumnus Jeff Rude, ’89, as Insurance Commissioner.  Rude had previously served as Interim Commissioner prior to his appointment.

Governor Gordon said, “Jeff Rude has the experience to move us forward on multiple fronts as we work to improve the services provided to the state by the Department of Insurance.

Rude served as Deputy Insurance Commissioner for the Department of Insurance for five years before being named Interim Commissioner earlier this year. He spent 24 years as an Air Force Judge Advocate and was General Counsel at F.E. Warren AFB for three years before joining the Department of Insurance in 2013. He has a Bachelor of Science from George Mason University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Dakota.

The Wyoming Insurance Department is responsible for regulating the business of insurance in the state of Wyoming.
