We Want Your Feedback on Our Updated University Code of Conduct

The University Code of Conduct explains what it means to act on behalf of the University. It sets basic expectations for how we treat people, how we use University resources, and how we build and protect trust in our work. The current Code was last updated in 2010, and a lot has changed since then. Because of that, we took a fresh look at the Code and made changes to bring it up to date. Our goal was to make it easy to read, clear to follow, and more reflective of national best practices and today’s campus environment.

What’s in the new draft?

The updated draft focuses on clear, everyday expectations. It lays out core behaviors in which we all share responsibility for, like:

  • Be honest and accountable
  • Treat people fairly and with respect
  • Use University resources appropriately
  • Follow laws and policies
  • Protect private and confidential information

It also includes sections that reflect today’s needs, such as:

  • Academic freedom and freedom of expression
  • Workplace civility and collegiality
  • Integrity, honesty and ethical conduct
  • Information security
  • Reporting concerns without fear

Ready to take a look?

Now, it’s your turn. Review the updated University Code of Conduct and share your feedback. You don’t need to be an expert. If something feels confusing, unclear, or missing, that’s exactly the kind of input we want.

The formal comment period is February 4-March 3. During this time, submit your comments and suggestions online. Feedback will be considered before finalizing the document.

Thanks for helping us modernize a document that hasn’t had a full update since 2010. A strong University Code of Conduct helps all of us. It sets the tone for how we work, learn, and treat each other.
