We Want Your Feedback on Our Updated Parking Policy

Parking affects many people on campus every day. Because of that, we recently reviewed and updated the University’s parking policy. Now, we want to hear from you.

What’s Changed

Our goal is simple: make the parking rules easier to understand, fair for everyone, and clear about what is expected. The revised policy explains things like where you can park, how permits work, and what happens if parking rules are not followed. We worked to remove confusing language and make the policy more straightforward.

Your Feedback Matters

Students, employees, and visitors all use campus parking, and your experiences help us spot what works and what does not. You may notice something that needs more explanation, a rule that feels unclear, or a situation we did not fully address.

Please take a few minutes to review the revised parking policy and share your thoughts. By sharing your input, you help us create a parking policy that better serves the campus community.

The formal comment period is January 26-February 8. During this time, submit your comments and suggestions online. Feedback will be considered before finalizing the policy.

Thank you for taking the time to review the policy and let us know what you think. Your voice helps make our policies stronger and more useful for everyone.

I realize there is likely a reason for it, but it would be nice if we could have options to shorten the length of stay in the passport parking without making it a whole day (referring to the payment – not having to pay for a whole day based on staying into afternoon). If I’m leaving at 3 pm (example), I would appreciate being able to just pay until 3:00 p.m. and not having to pay for the entire day. Can we do more proration? I often have to bounce around lots because of my work locations – two of them (I’m a remote employee that comes to campus) and end up having to “buy” more time than what I need in order to not get a ticket. If there are other options I am missing, I’d appreciate knowing ’cause it could very well just be me not know. Regards.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and suggestion. We appreciate the thoughtful explanation. We understand how managing parking around a changing schedule and multiple work locations can be frustrating.

Passport parking is currently structured to allow payment either by the hour or by the day. While this does provide some flexibility, we recognize that it may not always line up perfectly with individual schedules. Your feedback about additional proration is helpful, and we will keep it in mind as we continue reviewing ways to improve the parking experience. If you have paid for daily parking and need to move to a different lot, please contact Parking Services — we are happy to honor that parking for your next stop.

Thank you again for sharing your perspective.
