- Establishment and Review of Centers and Institutes – Comments due July 8
UND recognizes that centers and institutes support interdisciplinary collaborations, innovation, and external engagement that advances the University’s mission and strategic priorities. Clear and consistent procedures help ensure these entities operate with defined purpose, effective leadership, and sustainable resources, while avoiding unnecessary duplication of existing programs. SBHE policy 307.1 requires board approval to create or discontinue a center or institute. This policy establishes the framework to meet those requirements and clarifies responsibility, authority, and accountability for the oversight and management of centers and institutes.
New Policies: Approved for Implementation
The president has approved these documents after completing the development process. The responsible office and policy owners will now implement them.
- Principal Investigator Eligibility for Externally Sponsored Awards
Only individuals meeting the eligibility requirements of a principal investigator/project director (PI) may be listed as such on UND applications for externally funded sponsored projects to both federal and non-federal sources. This applies to all proposals submitted to external sponsors seeking monetary or non-monetary support of a sponsored project which, if awarded to UND, will be governed by a contract, grant, cooperative agreement, or other binding agreement.
Revised Policies: Updates and Changes
We have revised several existing policies, making updates that range from editorial adjustments to more substantial changes. Editorial revisions aim to clarify language, streamline policy flow, and update essential information, such as contact details and hyperlinks.
Some revisions are more substantive and affect what is allowed, prohibited, or required to do. These adjustments ensure policies remain aligned with organizational goals and regulatory standards. Additionally, policies can undergo conforming updates to align them with external regulations and industry standards. This helps ensure our policies comply with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.
- Preventing Sexual Violence – editorial/conforming revisions
- Subrecipient Monitoring Procedure – editorial revisions
- General Office Safety Program – editorial revisions; applied appropriate formatting and uploaded to policy library
