MEDIA ADVISORY: UND to cut ribbon on Education Northwest Building
Newly renovated building serves as home for College of Education and Human Development’s Kinesiology and Esports programs as well as the University Children’s Learning Center

WHO: Ribbon cutting, Education Northwest Building, UND College of Education & Human Development
WHAT: Education Northwest is the newly renovated building that’s now home to the College of Education and Human Development’s Kinesiology and Esports programs as well as the University Children’s Learning Center.
WHEN: Friday, April 17, at 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: Education Northwest Building, Room 160/Gym, 525 Stanford Road, Grand Forks
ABOUT: With the demolition of the Hyslop Sports Center at UND came the need to relocate several programs, notably Kinesiology with its need for a gymnasium-sized space. The idea developed to move the program to the former UND Housing & Residence Life Office, near the corner of Sixth Avenue North and Stanford Road — a building that’s connected to a gymnasium and also boasts a full basement.
On the opposite side of the gym is the University’s Children’s Learning Center, a dual-licensed childcare center and preschool for children of UND students, faculty and staff, as well as families of the Grand Forks area.
The renovations that’ll be highlighted at the ribbon-cutting created kinesiology labs for a variety of purposes (think treadmills, weight facilities and spaces curated to measure movements of the body) and a bigger activity area for the Children’s Learning Center, as well as other improvements.
Media are welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting event.
