Maliskey Elected to National LGBTQ Higher Education Consortium

Pride Center director, Dr. Jeff Maliskey was elected to serve on the board for the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals, officially seated in July. Maliskey is returning to the Consortium as the advocacy & outreach coordinator, having previously served as a regional representative for the yellow region (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Ontario, South Dakota, Wisconsin). In this role, Maliskey will serve as a liaison with National gender and sexuality communities in professional organizations, support the development of policy guidance documents along with assessment, best practices, and more to help campus professionals advocate for themselves, their students, and their work.

“The opportunity to serve on a national board along such amazing professionals in the field, doing this work, is truly a humbling experience,” said Maliskey.

The Consortium of Higher Education LGBTQ Resource Professionals was created at the National Gay & Lesbian Tasks Force’s Creating Change Conference in 1997. Their mission: The Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals is a member-based organization working towards the liberation of LGBTQ people in higher education. We support individuals  who work on campuses to educate and support people of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities, as well as advocate for more inclusive policies and practices through an intersectional and racial justice framework.
