Pride in the Air
April is UND Pride Month!
The Pride Center is getting ready to kick-off UND Pride Month! Many colleges and universities celebrate Pride Month in April when a majority of students are on campus. The month is all about community, celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, intersex, and two-spirit people and communities. It is a time to recognize and honor the legacy of queer and trans people at UND and give back.
This year’s Pride Month theme is Pride in the Air. The theme embraces the joy that Pride Month brings to the community; it captures vibrancy, the celebration of identity, and the freedom to be unapologetically you. The Pride Month events incorporate this theme throughout the month and bring the end to the month with a backyard party! Check out the full schedule of events below:
Pride Month Events
Events are open to UND students, faculty, and staff.
Pocky & Paint | April 2, 5 p.m. – 7p.m., Memorial Union 318
Do you like pocky? How about Painting? Why not combine the two! Join the Pride Center for canvas painting where you can choose one of our designs to follow or create your own. Canvas and paint available while supplies last.
LavGrad Celebration | April 7, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m., Memorial Union Henry Family Ballroom
LavGrad celebration recognizes LGBTQ+ students that are graduating in Spring, Summer or Fall semesters of the current year. Graduating students receive a lavender cord to wear with their academic regalia during UND Commencement. Pride Awards are also given at the celebration as a way to recognize students, faculty, and staff who have enhanced the campus climate for LGBTQ+ students. Graduating students are encouraged to invite friends, family, and those that have made an impact on their success to the celebration.
Identity Week Tabling | April 7 -11, 12 p.m. – 1 p.m., Memorial Union Main Floor
Stop by the Pride Center table at the Memorial Union Main Floor Vendor tables to get your Pride SWAG. We have buttons, pins, t-shirts, flags, stickers, and more to celebrate Pride Month! Each day will have something new.
Writing Café | April 11, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., The CALL, Merrifield Hall
The Pride Center is hosting a writing café to connect queer and trans students through story-making and story-sharing. Writing can take on many forms, this is a space to to celebrate, explore, and express!
Pride Brunch | April 14, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Memorial Union 200 – Lounge
Join the Pride Center in celebration of UND Pride Month with brunch! It’s a great way to come together in community and share a meal!
Pride Fest | May 2, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m., Memorial Union South Lawn
Join the Pride Center for their annual backyard celebration, Pride Fest! It’s a cookout with yard games, activities, music, and more! This is UND’s 3rd annual Pride Fest, celebrating LGBTQ+ life, culture, and community.
