Important Reminder from HR regarding Budgeting New Hires on Grant and Contract Proposals

The salary of all grant-funded employees is determined in accordance with UND policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing recruitment, hiring, and the terms and conditions of employment. When budgeting for a new position in a grant or contract proposal, you must consult with your divisional HR partner to develop the proposed position description. They will guide you through the process of establishing appropriate titling and salary estimates in coordination with the Compensation team, ensuring the position is properly justified in the budget narrative. As a reminder, an individual’s salary may not be increased or decreased based on the availability of funds from a sponsored grant or other revenue sources.
