Studio One to air segments on the 2010 census and humor in the workplace

Learn why the census program can be confusing to college students and how humor can benefit the workplace on the next edition of Studio One.

Every ten years, Uncle Sam tries to obtain a head count of everyone in the country. One demographic can find the process confusing. “What college students tend to think is that their address is where their parents live. According to the census, your address at the time is where you’re going to school,” said Grand Forks Public Information Officer Kevin Dean. Find out why their count matters.

Also on the show, humor lecturer Sue Thompson will discuss how humor in the workplace can benefit a person’s overall health. Stress levels in the workplace can increase because of layoffs, pay cuts and closures. Thompson explains that laughter helps lower these stress levels in the body. Lower stress levels can improve morale on the job and also helps to lower blood pressure. Thompson says that it is not necessary to be a comedian to enjoy a good laugh, and laughter in the workplace has its limits. Tune in to learn more about this laughing lecturer.
