Museum thanks community for making “Antique to Chic” a success

On Mothers Day, the North Dakota Museum of Art hosted their Annual Antique to Chic Jewelry Sale and Raffle. Almost 300 people browsed through tables laden with thousands of pieces of donated items, while they enjoyed refreshments.

We would like to first thank those who donated the ten raffle items, which ranged in value from $50 to $1000 and included a sapphire diamond necklace, hand crafted and artisan designed jewelry, artwork, and gift certificates. Thank you River City Jewelers, Kim Wilson, Sheila Dalgliesh, Steve Augustin, Zorell’s Jewelers, Dianne Paulsen, Donovan Widmer, Sanders 1907, and Toasted Frog.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to: everyone in the community who throughout the year has donated jewelry, to the committee members and volunteers who spent countless hours making centerpieces, pricing jewelry and planning the event, to Dr. Sunita Sharma for volunteering her time to give henna tattoos as an added fundraiser, and to vibraphonist Mike Blake. As a result of everyone’s donations, time and attendance, the Museum’s Children’s Programs brought in roughly $4,400.

The event’s proceeds support children’s art education programs at the Museum which include a series of summer art camps, weekend workshops and classes, outreach and family events. We still have room in our summer weekend children’s classes as well as our Tuesday night adult classes.

The Museum accepts donated jewelry all year long, and it can be simple and inexpensive costume jewelry or items you no longer need or wear.
