Grünergy Technologies launches “Total Mercury Control”

Grünergy Technologies PLC (Frankfurt: GN1) announced the launch and commercialization of its proprietary “Total Mercury Control” solution through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Grünergy Technologies USA Inc. and Grünergy Technologies Canada Inc. Grünergy’s mission is to offer the most advanced and innovative mercury emissions control technologies in the world for the electric utility industry. The company has now begun actively bidding on mercury control contracts across North America.

This advanced mercury emission control utilizes an integrated SEAT system together with proprietary sorbent technologies. Grünergy’s Total Mercury Control solution comprises a suite of current and pending patents and pending patents covering the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.

“Our technologies are now available to the commercial marketplace after years of extensive testing and exhaustive product development,” said Rick Mac Pherson, Chairman and CEO of Grünergy Technologies PLC. “Our goal is to improve the industry’s ability to meet the current and upcoming environmental regulations with the best available control technologies to mitigate mercury emissions.”

The Total Mercury Control technology was initially developed by scientists and engineers at the UND EERC, and the exclusive, worldwide rights to commercialization were licensed by the EERC Foundation to Grünergy Technologies USA.

“We are extremely pleased that this technology is reaching the next level of commercialization,” said EERC director Gerald Groenewold. “The EERC is leading the world in the area of mercury measurement and control, and this is another example of the innovative, practical technologies the EERC brings out of the laboratory and into the commercial marketplace.”

In conjunction with the EERC and the U.S. Department of Energy, Grünergy has conducted extensive field testing on a large-scale basis at multiple utilities across North America. Grünergy’s mercury control technologies have consistently achieved the highest mercury removal rates at significantly lower costs than other technologies on the market for coal-burning power plants.

About Grünergy Technologies PLC: Grünergy Technologies PLC is a holding company and is only active through the operations of its wholly owned subsidiaries, Grünergy Technologies USA Inc., located in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Grünergy Technologies Canada Inc., located in Ottawa, Canada.
