Registration open for School House Days at Myra Museum

Registration in open for the Grand Forks County Historical Society’s fifth annual School House Days on Aug. 2 and 9.

Area school children in grades 3-6 enjoy a day of country school in our museum’s Blooming 46 One Room Schoolhouse. This year’s theme will focus on Native American Culture,  complementing our feature exhibit in the Myra Museum “When the Chippewa Owned Grand Forks County.” Other lessons include writing, math, art, and of course recess games, as well as an authentic lunch served in pails.

Bonnie Cameron, a member of North Dakota’s Teacher Hall of Fame, will lead the class. Cameron attended a small one-room school as a child growing up in Bottineau County and is well known to area children for her excellence in storytelling.

Space is limited to 20 students each day, so register soon. The cost is $15 per child; registration forms are available at the Myra Museum or gfhistory@midconetwork.com .

For more information, contact our office at 701-775-2216 or gfhistory@midconetwork.com.
