Participants sought for omega-3 fish consumption study

We are seeking 20 men and women, age 40-65, to be part of a nutrition study that looks at the effects of omega-3-fish consumption. Must not be pregnant or lactating; must be a nonsmoker and be free of major medical conditions. Must not be a regular fish consumer and must not be taking fish oil or flax supplements; no use of prescription or over- the-counter steroids or nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin.

Study is five to eight months long, depending on the length of washout period between treatments. You will be given cooked salmon to eat twice a week for three periods involving four weeks. In between each of the three periods, you will have a flexible washout period of four to eight weeks where you will not eat salmon.

Week 1-4 Phase 1; Washout of 4 to 8 weeks; Week 5-8 Phase 2; Washout of 4 to 8 weeks; Week 9-12 Phase 3.

There will be blood draws and x-rays done. Participants could earn up to $150.
