This is homecoming week at UND; ignite the spirit!

UND, in conjunction with the Alumni Association, announces a full slate of activities for Homecoming, today through Oct. 10. An up-to-date schedule of all campus events during the week is available at www.undalumni.org or by calling 777-2611.

Select day-by-day highlights of the Homecoming week include :

  • Monday-Friday: Ralph Engelstad Arena Tours (Monday, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Tuesday, all day; Wednesday, all day; Thursday; Friday, all day until 2:30 p.m.)
  • Tuesday: Yell Like Hell: College students can show their school spirit in the Wilkerson Quad at 7 p.m.
  • Mellem Business Symposium speakers panel, 7 p.m., Ina Mae Rude Center.
  • Wednesday: Student Flag Football: Student groups on campus compete against each other in flag football from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Memorial Stadium practice field.
  • Mellem Business Symposium “Leadership in a Global Society,” 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Gamble Hall.
  • Thursday: The Sioux Award Banquet: Howard Dahl, ’71, HON ’10; Henry C. “Bud” Wessman, ’89; Mary Wakefield, ..’83; and Greg Page, ’73, will be honored with The Sioux Award. Ryan Kopseng, ’99 will receive the Young Alumni Achievement Award. The banquet is at Alerus Center, with a social at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $50/person and can be purchased online at www.undalumni.org or by call the UND Alumni Association at 777-2611.
  • Friday: Chamber of Commerce Wake up 2 UND, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., at the UND Wellness Center.
  • School of Medicine and Health Sciences Sioux Award Reception, 10 a.m., in the Vennes Atrium.
  • College of Business and Public Administration Pancratz Career Development Center Open House, 10 a.m., Gamble Hall.
  • Class of 1960 “Golden Grad Cocktail” reunion, 11 a.m., El Birstro, Canad Inns.
  • Sioux Booster Luncheon, 11:30 a.m., Alerus Center.
  • School of Engineering and Mines Induction ceremony, 1 p.m., Jodsaas Center (second floor), Harrington Hall.
  • School of Medicine and Health Sciences Clinical Education and Simulation Lab Open House, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 725 Hamline St.
  • Ignite the Spirit Ice Cream Social, 2:15 p.m. to 3 p.m., in front of the Chester Fritz Auditorium.
  • Ignite the Spirit: Be part of what everyone will be talking about the next day. Join the university community at the Chester Fritz Auditorium on Friday at 3p.m.
  • Al Austin Memorial Reception, 4 p.m., UND Center for Community Engagement, 317 Cambridge St., on campus
  • Law School Social, 5 p.m., Alerus Center
  • College of Nursing Alumni Social, 6p.m., Northern Plains Behavioral Research Center on campus.
  • Cheer Team reunion, 6 p.m., main lobby of the Betty Engelstad Arena
  • School of Engineering and Mines Academy dinner, 6 p.m., Hilton Garden Inn in Grand Forks.
  • School of Medicine and Health Science All-School Social, 6 p.m., Alerus Center, Eagle Room.
  • Arts & Sciences’ “Slice” of UND Spirit, 6 p.m., Empire Arts Center.

  • Saturday: Homecoming Run, 7:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., UND Wellness Center.
  • Coffee and hot chocolate with the College of Business and Public Administration, 10 a.m., University Avenue and Centennial Drive on the UND Campus.
  • Class of 1990 Breakfast, 10 a.m., front lawn, Strinden Center.
  • Class of 1960 breakfast on the front porch of the J. Lloyd Stone House at 10 a.m.
  • Homecoming Parade, 10:30 a.m. University Avenue.
  • College of Education and Human Development Tailgating Party, noon, Alerus Center parking lot.
  • Class 1990 Social, 2 p.m., Blue Moose in East Grand Forks.
  • Alumni Tailgating Party, 2 p.m. Alerus Center parking lot.
  • Football game, UND vs. Southern Utah, 4 p.m., Alerus Center. At half-time the Coronation ceremony and announcement of the 2010 Homecoming King and Queen will occur, as well as introduction of the Sioux Award recipients.
  • Brad Paisley concert with special guest Darius Rucker, 7:30 p.m., Ralph Engelstad Arena.
