University Within the University (U2) lists new classes

Bloodborne Pathogens and the UND Sharps Policy Online
Open enrollment: Oct. 1 to Dec. 31
Blackboard session: Attendees will be provided login information upon enrollment. This online session will provide introductory information on blood borne pathogens relating to work-place hazards, and the UND Sharps policy. Procedures applicable to needle sticks and other contaminated cuts will be outlined, as well as guidelines for handling spills involving body fluids. Topics reviewed include: protective equipment, disposal of contaminated materials, and guidelines to report the incident. Universal Precautions will be defined. Presenter: Claire Moen

Introduction to Ergonomics Online
Open enrollment: Oct. 1 to Dec. 31
Blackboard session: Attendees will be provided login information upon enrollment. Become acquainted with Ergonomics through this new online training. Ergonomics will be defined along with identifying goals associated with the UND Ergonomic Program as seen at www.und.edu/dept/policyoffice/Policies/safety/safety/PDF/ergonomics.pdf. Topics to be covered include: risk factors to avoid for prevention of cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs), symptoms of CTDs, and preventative strategies for CTDs. Presenter: Claire Moen

Office Ergonomics Online
Open enrollment: Oct. 1 to Dec. 31
Blackboard session: Attendees will be provided login information upon enrollment.
This online session will present ergonomic risk factors as they relate to the office environment. Topics that will be addressed include: appropriate work station design; correct posture and wrist positioning while at the computer; and lighting concerns. This training will also cover various cumulative trauma disorders that may develop from awkward positioning, and poor work habits. Presenter: Claire Moen

Introduction to American Sign Language Online

Blackboard session: Attendees will be provided login information upon enrollment. This session is a self-paced introduction to basic American Sign Language. Presenter: Clay Willoughby

What Can U2 Do For You? Online
Open enrollment: Oct. 1 to Dec. 31
Blackboard session: Attendees will be provided login information upon enrollment. The U2 program is designed to coordinate the planning and delivery of campus professional development activities for UND staff and student employees. This session will introduce what U2 can do to assist you with the development and delivery of your U2 session. Presenter: Patricia Young

Train the Trainer in Ergonomics * Online
Open enrollment: Oct. 1 to Dec. 31
Attendees will use Blackboard and will be provided login information upon enrollment.
The new UND Ergonomic Program will be reviewed, as well as an introductory explanation of ergonomics that is to be shared with your staff members. UND Administration supports this effort, and part of our Workers’ Compensation Discount depends on participation in this class. Certificates will be presented, and attendance will be monitored. We look forward to having as many people as possible attend this session. Presenter: Claire S. Moen
