Growing up is hard. For some it can be harder. Nathan Gawlik grew up in 25 different foster homes, attended 10 different schools and lived in three states before he was 18. Today this college junior speaks about his experience growing up in foster care and his passion to change the system. He notes that studies show 80 percent of foster youth enter prison at some point. Gawlik says his values are what helped him come out of foster care more successful and well-adjusted than most. He is involved with different organizations to help change the current system and to give foster kids a voice. Watch Studio One to learn about how Gawlick is traveling the country to help today’s youth.

Also, it can be difficult to squeeze in gym time. Thus, some who don’t make the time may find themselves squeezing into a tighter pair of pants after the holiday season. Barbara Arntson, a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist, stresses the importance of getting some type of workout each day. She says keeping gum, water and healthy snacks around at all times is the key to maintaining your normal weight. Tune in this week for tips on preventing seasonal weight gain.
