More than half of UND’s student-athletes make Athletics Director’s Honor Roll

Twelve of UND’s 18 teams earn a 3.0 GPA in fall 2010 semester

Continuing a long tradition of academic success, UND’s athletics teams once again have enjoyed an outstanding semester in the classroom.

A total of 244 student-athletes earned a spot on the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for the recently completed fall semester, achieving at least a 3.0 grade point average. Forty-six of those student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0. To make the honor roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade point average of at least 3.0 for the semester or have a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Twelve of UND’s 18 teams had a 3.0 or better grade point average for the semester, including nine of 10 women’s teams. Two more teams had at least a 2.94 GPA.

“Our student-athletes continue to show their commitment to succeeding in the classroom,” said Athletics director Brian Faison. “We are extremely proud of their academic accomplishments. We also want to thank our coaches, academic support staff, faculty and University administration for their support of our student-athletes’ academic efforts.”

The women’s swimming and diving team boasted UND’s highest Fall grade point average at 3.546, followed by women’s basketball (3.396), volleyball (3.324), men’s golf (3.261) and tennis (3.421).

UND will honor these student-athletes who achieved a 3.0 semester or cumulative grade point average during its Academic Awards Night at the Feb. 16 men’s basketball game against Louisiana Tech.
