Notice to instructors about flooding emergencies elsewhere in the state

Minot and Bismarck are experiencing flood emergencies that are projected to extend indefinitely. Substantial parts of Minot will be subject to a mandatory evacuation order, and Minot State University is closing at the end of today.

If we are offering online or distance courses to students who are affected by the flooding in these two cities (or elsewhere in the state), please be sensitive to the circumstances in which they find themselves. Communication may be interrupted, and students may be engaged in flood-fighting efforts. I know that summer courses are typically taught on a significantly accelerated schedule, calling for even greater creative thinking about how the needs of our students can be accommodated. Please work with department chairs and deans if there are any questions. My office is available as a resource as well.

Thank you for your consideration.
