Register now for Biomedical Research Retreat on Oct. 27

Registration is open for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences’ Biomedical Research Retreat, which will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., in the James Ray Idea Lab at the Center for Innovation Ina Mae Rude Entrepreneur Center.

The retreat will bring together the local scientific community, including graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, and staff to build bridges between disciplines and existing departments and to foster an integrative, team-based approach to the advancement of biomedical research in North Dakota.

Keynote speakers will be:

• Lawrence Tabak, National Institutes of Health (NIH), the principal deputy director and the No. 2 administrator below NIH Director Francis Collins.
• Paul Sanberg, Distinguished University Professor of the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa, where he holds positions as the vice-chairman of Neurosurgery and Brain Repair, executive director of the Center of Excellence for Aging and Brain Repair, senior associate vice president in the Office of Research and Innovation, and a member of the Executive Committee in Research and Education at the College of Medicine.

Registration is free, and those who register by Oct. 10 will be assured a free T-shirt and UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences USB flash drive.
