Retirement reception for Jan Orvik is July 26

Jan Orvik, internal communications editor in UND Marketing & Communications, is retiring Aug. 1 after more than 32 years of service to the University.

Please join us for a retirement reception, 10 a.m. to noon, on Tuesday, July 26, in the first floor of Skalicky Atrium. Ample parking is available across from Skalicky in the CTS lot.

Jan Orvik came to UND in 1989 from the N.D. Department of Transportation in Bismarck, where she wrote and produced videos. She joined what was then the Office of University Advancement as a grantwriter, and was named editor of University Letter in 1993. She and the director of what was then the Computer Center co-founded the UND website in 1994. A Meritorious Service Award recipient, she has written for numerous publications and news sites. She has sent out campus announcements since UND’s email system began.

She earned her master’s degree in communications from UND in 1995, and has taught either a live or online course in public relations or media writing every semester.
