Presidential symposium organized by Feng “Frank” Xiao at American Chemical Society National Meeting

Invited by the President of the American Chemical Society, Feng “Frank” Xiao, associate professor of civil engineering, organized a presidential symposium at the 264th ACS National Meeting in Chicago, Aug. 21-25, with three of his colleagues. Xiao also gave a talk on challenges and potential solutions for effective removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances during drinking-water treatment.

Xiao is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the EPA STAR Early Career Award, National Science Foundation CAREER Award, multiple grants from the U.S. Department of Defense, Dean’s Outstanding Faculty Award, and UND Foundation/McDermott Faculty Award for Excellence in Research and/or Creative Activity. He currently serves as the Director of Natural Resources Initiative and an editor of Journal of Hazardous Materials (impact factor: 14.244).
