Digital Storytelling Summit for ND high school students is June 3-7

The UND Department of Communication will host the 2024 Digital Storytelling Summit for high school students in North Dakota from June 3 to June 7, 2024, at the UND Memorial Union Ballroom. This is a free event sponsored by the North Dakota Newspaper Association Education Foundation, the UND College of Arts & Sciences, and the Department of Communication.

The purpose of this event is to help North Dakota high school students increase digital and news literacy by learning to share community stories via digital media. During the Summit, 50 high school students will learn how to develop and share the stories and news of community via digital and social media, such as interviewing skills, news writing, basic video editing skills, and media literacy through lectures by multiple UND Department of Communication professor, local journalists, and communication professionals.

The Summit includes the UND and Esports Facility tour and field trip to WDAY in Fargo. A group of five Summit attendees will be assigned to a local client to work together. Several UND undergraduate students will serve as mentors for high school students.
